Took forever to finish. >.<*This* was my first ever doodle of Dick AND of Bat. I worked on and off on it for a long while, but I was never satisfied with the details.
What I do like in this one, is the symbolism. Dick’s shadow is Batman’s shadow because Dick lives in that shadow. He thrived in it. The bat is what Nightwing’s destined to become (and later became, when Bruce was misplaced in time). But I chose to draw the shadow back-to-back with Dick, because Batman isn’t merely a dark shadow looming behind Dick. He’s someone that’s always been at his back - fighting back to back with him.
